Say to Ibn Harb, in the words of one
Tell the son of Harb, say from me
who feared no folly in speech:
One who did not fear ignorant talk
إنif كانis شعريmy poetry هيناًeasy
إن كان شعري هيناً
فانسجthen weave علىon منوالهits loom
فانسج على منواله
If my poetry is easy,
If my poetry is deemed base
then weave on its loom.
Then weave upon its pattern
