يا سائلاً عن غليل قلبي
لقدindeed تجاهلتَyou feigned ignorance بالسؤالِby asking
لقد تجاهلتَ بالسؤالِ
O you who ask about my heart’s burning thirst,
O you who ask about the anguish of my heart
You have indeed feigned ignorance by asking.
You have ignored with your question
أنتyou علىin القربnearness والتّنائيand distance
أنت على القرب والتّنائي
أعلمُmore knowledgeable منّيthan I بكنهِof the true nature of حاليmy condition
أعلمُ منّي بكنهِ حالي
You, whether near or far,
That you are closer to intimacy and distance
Know my true condition better than I do.
More knowing than I of the essence of my state
