His limbs swaying in the intoxication of youth,
Fickle in temper through the haughtiness of conceit.

And my affliction is the supple one, slender of stature,
As it has ever been; slenderness is beauty's mark.

And the aloofness of one in beauty's first bloom, turning away,
Like the full moon, never knowing its dark phase or eclipse.

Repel his raiding eyelids from my heart's sanctuary;
For his eyelids are arrows, and my heart their target.

In his two encampments I have become a voyager upon deep waters,
Hoping for safety as much as I fear perishing.

The heart's possessor resembles his temple-lock in blackness;
And had I any luck, it would resemble that lock when it bends.

Within my breast but yearning and wasting sickness.

So my body, in sickness's robe, lies cast aside for him,
And my heart drags its chains, bound by cares because of him.

The water of tears kindles the fires of passion.
