Do you not see the sky's face frowning,

And the earth laughing with a radiant face?

And yellow bubbles are adorned with a brilliant hue,

Like gold inlaid with red carnelian.

    وتراهُ ممسَّكٍ ومعنبر

    And one with ambergris-scented breath has been perfumed with musk by the rain;

And you see it scented with musk and ambergris.

And our singer, swaying his figure, seems

Drunk, though he drinks no intoxicant.

Our eyes' glances travel from his hair

And his forehead, in the gloom of a moonlit night.

And it is a marvel to be denied a draught of his saliva:

No one entering a paradise has ever lacked Kawthar.
