And indeed I alighted in a sorrowful garden,

where our eyes and souls grazed freely.

So I kept marveling as my companion soared,

while musk breathed from its fragrant breezes.

The air was nothing but ambergris, the tall trees nothing but

jewels, and the earth nothing but fine silk.

Its anemones unveiled, and the chrysanthemum longed

to kiss them; then the narcissus gazed toward it.

So this seemed a mouth, and that a cheek it sought,

and this, forever, eyes keeping watch.
