Drowsing, while the night of sorrow is dark?
I rave in anguish, while the night of worries is pitch black,
Then bring a lamp's radiance from choice wine.
So bring from the wine-bearer a light to illuminate our drinking.

And let the cupbearers rise as full moons,
And call to the cupbearers in the darkest hours of night,
passing the sun around in the dawn of glass.
As the sun revolves in the dawn gleaming like glass.

We drink it in handfuls like candles,
gleaming beneath the banners of darkness,
Gleaming banners beneath the cover of darkness.

the fingers of a hand that makes peace in the fray,
Were to ride out to hunt wishes,

It would excel in fighting, but in a state
whose incense-smoke is the blaze of battle dust.
Of smoky dreams and glowing embers.

The wine-strainer wept scattered coral,
The reciter wept copious pearls
and the mixture's laughter strung pearls.
And strung together a necklace of chuckling pleasure.

For the rain has woven brocades and adorned
For he wove silk with ink and sweetened it
the mountain passes' necks with pearls of blossom,
With full moons of shining light.

silent, yet eloquent in whispered converse.
Silent yet eloquently intimate.

Languid in her glances, provoking passion.

Encircled by a fence like a barricade.

And a figure that alleviates the pain of cares
when sorrow has grown too great for remedy.
Whenever cares cease to torment me.

And if we conceal the familiarity we've gained

From the Bounteous King to old wetnurse Ma’aj.
