Between graceful figures and the bends of spears
Between the branches and the river bends
lies a kinship that makes spearheads eyes.
A lineage whose tongues are watchful eyes

It is all one: a slender, swaying youth or a spearman,
Whether a roaring lion or a spear-wielding knight
shaking his figure or his lance to pierce.
Who made the waist quiver or the river bend to stab

a branch more slender than a twig, and softer.
More delicate than a rod or flute

Describing illness while his waist complains of emaciation

I cried once and the hem of his garment dropped
so I saw roses in winter, and irises.
Revealing a rose in winter and lilies

Terrify those deadly swords, for they have become
fairer to the eye than coats of mail, and more protective.
More dear in the eyes and better protected

How many plain garments spoke eloquently
there I pitied, on its account, the tongue-tied bracelet.
In which I pitied it its inexpensive bracelets

and there caught the gazelle, supple and wide-eyed.
And hunted the doe, watchful, keen-eyed

how wondrous, a dinar through which wealth is gained!
How strange is a golden coin that brings wealth

I would not have dressed them in a colorful garb of tears

but for his [hidden?] passion, he would not have proclaimed it.
If he did not suppress it, it would not have been proclaimed

and today weeping has translated it and given it a title.
Today tears translate and title it

the sea is feared, even when it grants wealth.
While the sea is fearful, even if it grants wealth

Loving the clement whose company lacks no grace
his union with it is bounty, singly or in pairs.
Its union is the point, one or together

Thank his generosity from here and from there

I paid its height amidst the chests of his enemies
and his virtues walked upon the cheek of the worlds.
And his virtues walked on the cheek of lowliness

He wields the reed-pen; these are among sword-blades' traits:
To it belong the glorious herd on the day of assembly
drawn on the day of muster, it awes and adorns.
Adorned and built lofty, smooth, well-founded

a harsh edge and a smooth flat side.
Its light adorned the dawn and the pliant

It is the foes' doom among foes; its spittle
Increasing guidance in the darkness of tribulations
has sweet yield, but bitter torment for the wrongdoer.

Alas! The distant is not easily attained
thus we inhabit a high-roofed edifice of ‘Ad.
And seeking the distant may perhaps be attained

By God, your generosity did not lack praise
whose light adorned morning and deep night.
That would suffice, and your forbearance wronged none

celestial in resolve's course, sunlike in radiance.

whoever thinks high honors easy to attain.
While others’ moments lasted, you were firmly rooted

You did not lack, singular outstanding one
though sometimes the distant is sought and becomes possible.

So it seems a disgrace for you to seize an offender,
So if you hear talk of generosity
or not to rain more copiously than the morning clouds.
You authenticate it, and it echoes to you

And I accessed from the gardens of my reason
and softened its harsh side.
Whatever flowed in life, guarded and refined

I watered its growth with your love, so it produced
others' glances slipping, yourself steadfast and secure.

You did not surpass all your enemies, single and alone,
Everyone avoided the well-trodden path of the beloved
until you chose praise and they chose bynames.

Concern for [gold?] and its accumulation wore them down,
Its freshness guided the reddened drinker from inhibition
while what occupied you was concern for noble deeds.
So it degraded the heights of words and protected them

And your enviers washed with tears before death
you authenticate it, and a chain of 'from' links it back to you.

what traveled the world, freely shared yet inviolate.
