وبمهجتيand with my lifeblood منhim whose سيفهُhis sword منfrom جفنهِhis eyelid
ينضىis unsheathed ولدنand the suppleness of قناتهِhis lance منfrom قدّهِhis stature
And with my lifeblood I would ransom him whose sword, from his eyelid,
With his sword he wounded my heart,
is unsheathed, and whose supple lance comes from his stature.
Drawing blood from my eyes with his blade.
أهدىgave as a gift إليَّto me رسولهُhis messenger تفاحةًan apple
أهدتْit bestowed إلىon قلبيmy heart غرائبَwonders of وجدهِits longing
His messenger gave me an apple,
His messenger brought me an apple-
which bestowed on my heart the wonders of its longing.
It carried to my heart strange ecstasies.
فكأنَّso, as though طيبَthe sweetness of نسيمهاits scent منfrom نشرهِhis fragrance
وكأنَّand as though حمرةَthe redness of لونهاits color منfrom خدّهِhis cheek
So the sweetness of its scent seems to come from his fragrance,
The fragrance it exhaled was like his breath,
and the redness of its hue seems to come from his cheek.
Its ruby hue the color of his cheek.
