What remains of one exhausted by parting and wasted away,

And a body lingering after its patience has departed.

And a heart that accepts nothing but ardent longing and suffering.

And grant me a dream-vision that would come by night, if you allowed it.

A garden on your cheek or a watering-place at your mouth.

    .......

And it is the moons' habit to move from place to place.

    .......

And, by nature, turned away from noble pledges.

And I am not one who claims that character can be changed.

And you inclined toward the tale-bearers, not to blame—

    .......

And who can prevent branches from swaying?

    .......
