وَبِتناand we spent the night جميعاًtogether وباتand he spent the night الغيورُthe jealous man
وَبِتنا جميعاً وبات الغيورُ
يعضُّhe bites يديهboth his hands عليناat us حَنَقin fury
يعضُّ يديه علينا حَنَق
And we spent the night together, while the jealous man spent his night
Biting both his hands in fury at us.
نودُّwe wish غَراماًout of passion لوif only أنَّاthat we نُباعُbe sold something
نودُّ غَراماً لو أنَّا نُباعُ
سَوادthe blackness of الدجىnight بسوادin exchange for the blackness of الحَدَقthe pupils
سَواد الدجى بسواد الحَدَق
In our passion, we wish we could buy
The blackness of night with the blackness of our pupils.
