أَلينُI soften إِذاwhen لانَhe softens الغَريمُthe creditor وَأَلتَويand I twist away
أَلينُ إِذا لانَ الغَريمُ وَأَلتَوي
إِذاwhen اِشتَدَّhe grows harsh حَتّىuntil يُدرِكَcollects الدَينَthe debt قاتِليmy slayer
إِذا اِشتَدَّ حَتّى يُدرِكَ الدَينَ قاتِلي
I soften when the creditor softens, and twist away
I am flexible when the debtor is destitute and twisted
When he grows harsh, until my slayer collects the debt.
When he is in extreme hardship until he can pay his debt, I fight him
وَأَمطُلُهُand I put him off العَصرَينِday and night حَتّىuntil يَمَلَّنيhe tires of me
وَأَمطُلُهُ العَصرَينِ حَتّى يَمَلَّني
وَيَرضىand he is content بِبَعضِwith part of الدَينِthe debt فيin غَيرِabsence of نائِلِgain
وَيَرضى بِبَعضِ الدَينِ في غَيرِ نائِلِ
And I put him off through day and night until he tires of me
And I give him time until he wearies me
And is content with part of the debt, though he receives nothing.
And he is content with paying some of the debt without getting everything he wants
