1. اشرق نور القمر الزاهر

    سبط النبي المصطفى الطاهر

    The light of the radiant moon has shone forth,

    the grandson of the chosen, pure Prophet.

  2. يا ليلة قرت بها كل عين

    حين ارتنا ثاني الفرقدين

    O night in which every eye found delight,

    when it showed us the second of the two Farqad stars.

  3. في صبحها اشرق نور الحسين

    بدر الهدى بحر الندى الزاخر

    In its morning, the light of Husayn shone forth,

    the full moon of guidance, the overflowing sea of generosity.

  4. فالعيش غض بهج مورق

    وكوكب السعد لنا مشرق

    So life is fresh, joyful, and putting forth leaves,

    and the star of good fortune shines for us,

  5. وروض آمال الورى مونق

    طابت مجاني روضه الناضر

    and the garden of humankind's hopes is lovely.

    The fruits of his flourishing garden have grown sweet.

  6. هز له الإسلام أعطافه يشكر

    للخالق الطافه

    Islam swayed its sides for him, giving thanks

    to the Creator for His gracious favors.

  7. هذا الذي أنزل أوصافه

    في الذكر فيه بهجة الذاكر

    This is the one whose attributes He revealed

    in the Reminder; therein lies the delight of one who remembers.

  8. من معدن اللطف بصنع حكيم

    لاح لنا جوهر مجد صميم

    From the mine of grace, through wise craftsmanship,

    a jewel of pure glory shone for us.

  9. ذلك تقدير العزيز العليم

    فجل صنع الملك القادر

    That is the ordaining of the Almighty, the All-Knowing;

    so exalted is the handiwork of the King, the All-Powerful.

  10. بشائر دارت بقداحها

    فاهدت الروح لارواحها

    Glad tidings went round with their cups,

    and so bestowed solace upon their souls.

  11. يا ليلة عمت بافرادها

    كل الهنا في صبحك السافر

    O night that, in its uniqueness, encompassed

    all bliss in your unveiled morning.

  12. هذا سليل المرتضى حيدر

    ساقي الورى من سلسل الكوثر

    This is the scion of al-Murtada, Haydar,

    who gives humankind drink from the sweet-flowing waters of al-Kawthar.

  13. يا شيعة الحق الا فابشري

    بالحشر في حب بني الحاشر

    O followers of truth, behold—rejoice,

    at the Resurrection, in love for the Gatherer's sons.

  14. اجابة الدعوة في قبته

    كذا شفاء الداء في تربته

    Supplication is answered beneath his dome;

    likewise, healing from illness is in his soil,

  15. والعفو والغفران في زورته

    فالبشر للوافد والزائر

    and pardon and forgiveness are in visiting him;

    so joy awaits the newcomer and the visitor.

  16. وعترة المختار ساداتنا

    بحبهم تقبل طاعاتنا

    And the Chosen One's kindred are our masters;

    through love for them, our acts of obedience are accepted,

  17. وفيهم تنجح حاجاتنا

    فهم اجل الذخر للذاخر

    and through them our needs are fulfilled;

    for they are the noblest treasure for whoever stores it.

  18. من كان في نهج الولا مستقيم

    فقد اتى الله بقلب سليم

    Whoever is upright on the path of devotion

    has indeed come to God with a sound heart,

  19. وفاز بالجنة دار النعيم

    ولم يخف من زلة العاثر

    and won Paradise, the abode of bliss,

    and did not fear the stumbling one's slip.

  20. فعيش من والاهم ناعم

    وكل من عاداهم نادم

    So the life of one loyal to them is pleasant,

    and everyone hostile to them is regretful.

  21. ليس من الله له عاصم

    بعداً له من خائب خاسر

    He has no protector against God.

    Away with him—what a thwarted loser!

  22. بالله اسياقي كاس الطلا

    لا تسقني غير كؤوس الولا

    By God, O bearer of the winecup,

    give me no drink but from cups of devotion;

  23. وانشد الشعر الذي قد حلا

    وقل رعاك الله من شاعر

    and recite the verse that has grown sweet,

    and say, 'May God watch over you—what a poet!'

  24. هذا ثنائي والنظام البديع

    تزهو كما يزهو رياض الربيع

    This is my praise and the exquisite verse,

    blooming as the gardens of spring bloom.

  25. أودعت در النظم بحر السريع

    يهدى إلى بحر الندى الوافر

    I have lodged the pearls of verse in the sea of the Sarīʿ meter;

    it is offered to the abundant sea of generosity.
