The lean, stalwart steeds thanked me when they saw
The sleek, sturdy steeds thanked me when they saw
that, rather than any land, I made their backs my home.
Me making my home on their backs rather than in any land.

And whenever I found a pleasure that held abasement for me,
And whenever I attain a pleasure that brings me humiliation,
I rebuked my soul there and kept it from its desires.
I restrain my soul from its pleasures.
