By God, ask the band that massacred the Persians:
By God, ask the alliance of Persians if they have destroyed
For what crime was the people's blood shed?
For what crime they have shed the blood of the people

They fled oppression in fear, and their lot was
They fled from injustice in horror, so for them
bloodshed, as recompense for their pleas and complaints.
Shedding blood was the punishment if they called and complained

They held nothing against them except their allegiance
They did not resent them as patrons, they
and their love for the Prophet's family, sanctified and pure.
And their love are a family that has been sanctified and purified

As if it were a day of celebration and they had abstained

And the sanctity of Islam did not prevent them

From it or the sanctity of the month which was violated

The enemies' eyes were gladdened and laughed with joy;
The eyes of the enemy were delighted and laughed with joy
so they will weep for a long time after having laughed.
So they will cry for a long time after they laughed

O zeal of religion and law, avenge them
and quench the fire of grief blazing in the hearts.
And extinguish the fire of sorrow in hearts that blazed

Alas for them, as the daughters of thunder shower them
My craving for them and the daughters of thunder rain upon them
with bullets cast from death's poisons.
With rifles containing lethal bullets that were cast

The deceiver led for them an army
from every renegade band that joined in their slaughter.
Composed of every apostate who participated in killing them

فوق الثرى برحى الهيجاء قد عركت
So the slain among them were left strewn
So they were treacherously killed, strewn
upon the earth, ground down by the millstone of battle,
Over the ground, crushed by the torrent they were threshed

naked, their clothes stripped away from them.
Bare, robbed of their clothes
Woe to the vile, for they spare nothing when they hold power.
Woe to the scoundrels, they leave nothing when they rule
