في حسن وجهك ساطع البرهان

ان ليس مثلك في الملاحة ثاني

In the beauty of your face lies radiant proof

That none is your equal in loveliness.

حازت معانيك الحسان غرائبا

ببديعها حيرت كل بيان

Your lovely qualities have gathered wonders;

With their wondrous beauty, they have baffled all expression.

أشكو إليك وأنت تعلم صبوتي

شوقاً يبرح بالمشوق العاني

I lament to you—and you know my passion—

A longing that torments the captive lover.

اعطيت ما شاء الهوى حسناً فهل

تعطى الهوى ما شاء من احسان

You have been granted all the beauty love desires; will you then

Grant love all the kindness it desires?

اعلنت حبك غير ان سريرة

اخفيتها جلت عن الأعلان

I have proclaimed my love for you, yet a secret

I have concealed is too sublime to reveal.

لولا المحبة ما عرفت حقيقة

لعلاقة الأرواح في الأبدان

Were it not for love, I would not have known the true nature

Of the attachment of souls to bodies.

اما قلوب العاشقين فامة

ما ان ترى لسواك من سلطان

As for lovers' hearts, they are a nation

That recognizes no sovereign power but yours.

لا ظل إلا في حماك ولا روى

الا غدير نداك للظمآن

There is no shade except in your sanctuary, nor any quenching of thirst

Save the pool of your bounty for the thirsty.

من كان يطربه النسيم إذا سرى

من أرض نجد أوربى نعمان

Whoever is delighted by the breeze when it drifts by night

From the land of Najd or the hills of Nu‘man—

فأنا الذي اصبو لذكرك انه

يذكو بروح القدس والريحان

Then I am the one who yearns for your remembrance, for it

Grows fragrant with the Holy Spirit and sweet basil.

يا ليلة الميلاد قد بشرتنا

بنجاح آمال لنا وامان

O night of birth, you have brought us glad tidings

Of the fulfillment of our hopes and wishes.

واضاءت الدنيا بطلعة ابلج

لبست به الدنيا ثياب تهان

And the world shone at the appearance of a radiant one;

Through him, the world donned robes of rejoicing.

طوبى لشعبان ويا بشرى له

فلقد تجلى النور في شعبان

Blessed be Sha‘ban, and glad tidings to it!

For light has indeed revealed itself in Sha‘ban.

السبط والمهدي فيه اشرقا

قمرين دون سناهما القمران

The Prophet's grandson and the Mahdi shone forth within it,

Two moons whose radiance outshines the sun and moon.

اليوم اعلام النبوة قد بدت

اثارها وتمثلت لعيان

Today the signs of prophethood stand revealed,

Their traces taking visible form.

صدق الأله نبيه ونبيه

قد جاءنا باصدق والتبيان

God has vindicated His Prophet, and His Prophet

Has brought us the truest word and clear exposition.

الفاطمي الدب يملا أرضها

قسطا وعدلا قائم الأركان

The descendant of Fatima [apparently 'who'] fills the earth

With equity and justice whose pillars stand firm.

بدر كمثل رجال بدر جيشه

لكنهم شهب على الأقران

A full moon, whose army is like the men of Badr,

But they are meteors against their adversaries.

الله يجمع شملهم في ليلة

فسواء القاصي بها والداني

God gathers them together in a single night,

So in that night, the distant and the near are alike.

يدعوهم الروح الأمين وانه

نعم الأمين لدعوة الأيمان

The Trustworthy Spirit calls them, and indeed he

Is an excellent custodian of the call to faith.

يأتى لنصرته المسيح مؤازراً

وهو الدليل على عظيم الشان

The Messiah comes to support him, lending aid,

And this is proof of his exalted stature.

نفسي الفداء لناصر مستنقذ

دين الهدى من مبدعي الأديان

May my soul be the ransom for a champion who rescues

The faith of guidance from the inventors of religions.

تحيي به سنن النبي محمد

بعد المماة وشرعة الفرقان

Through him, the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad are revived

After their death, along with the law of the Criterion.

وبمهد الدين الحنيف مشيدا

ما أسس الآباء من بنيان

And [apparently] he establishes the upright faith, rebuilding

The edifice the forefathers founded.

والرعب يقدم جيشه مستهزما

أعداءه بالخوف والخذلان

And terror marches ahead of his army, routing

His enemies through fear and abandonment.

ما أمة تبقى ولا ذو سلطة

إلا يدين لمنقذ الأوطان

No nation remains, nor anyone in power,

Without submitting to the deliverer of the homelands.

يدعو صليل حسامه بيمينه

جاء الهزبر مجدل الشجعان

The ringing of the sword in his right hand proclaims:

'The lion has come, who lays brave men low!'

في صولة الكرار حيدر جده

وشجاعة السبط الكريم الثاني

With the onslaught of al-Karrar—Haydar, his forefather—

And the courage of the noble second grandson.

هذا انقلاب حكومة الحق الذي

تقضى شرائعه على التيجان

This is the revolution of the rule of truth, whose

Laws bring down the crowns.

يا دولة الأمجاد من عمرو العلى

وحكومة الأشراف من عدنان

O realm of the illustrious descendants of ‘Amr al-‘Ula,

And rule of the noble descendants of ‘Adnan!

هي دولة العز المنيعة جانبا

لكيانها شرف على كيوان

It is the realm of glory, its flank impregnable;

Its very being is exalted above Saturn.

فالحق ابلج واضح منهاجه

والعدل منشور بكل مكان

For truth is radiant, its path clear,

And justice is spread throughout every place.

يا غائباً ما غاب فيض وجوده

فالكون منه بنعمة وامان

O absent one, the bounty of whose being is never absent,

For from him the universe receives blessing and safety.

طال انتظارك والعيون شواخص

ترنو إليك قريحة الاجفان

The wait for you has grown long, and eyes stare fixedly,

Gazing toward you with wounded eyelids.

ضاقت بنا الأرض الوساع فمالنا

بالخطب يا كهف المروع يدان

The spacious earth has closed in upon us, so we have no

Hands to grapple with calamity, O refuge of the terrified.

جار القوي على الضعيف فلا حمى

من جور أهل البغي والعدوان

The strong have oppressed the weak, so there is no refuge

From the injustice of those bent on tyranny and aggression.

وإلى الأثير تصاعدت أنفاسنا

فتساقطت شهباً من النيران

And our breaths have risen into the ether,

Then fallen as meteors of fire.

وجنوا علينا واجتنوا من غرسنا

ثمراً فبعداً للاثيم الجاني

And they wronged us and gathered from what we planted

Fruit—so away with the sinful wrongdoer!

زعموا محالا ما نقول وانه

هو ثالث العنقاء والغيلان

They claimed that what we say is impossible, and that it

Is a third impossibility beside the phoenix and the ghouls.

ولنا يقين ان ذلك كائن

آت قريب عهده المتداني

And we are certain that this will come to pass,

Coming soon, its time drawing near.
