فاكِ وإن أظماك من لَوْمِ
I have, for your fasting from a sip
What care I for your fasting or your prayer,
of your mouth—even if it makes you thirsty—no reproach.
Go on and blame me, but I do not care,
فازtriumphed علىover عاشقهhis lover صومهhis fasting
فاز على عاشقه صومه
إنّيindeed I أرىsee الصومfasting منamong القومِthe people
إنّي أرى الصوم من القومِ
His fasting triumphed over his lover.
The faster triumphs over his dear lover,
Indeed, I see fasting among the people.
Yet I behold no fasting anywhere.
