والروض لا تنجلي أبصاره أبداً
إلاّexcept إذاwhen رمدتْthey grow inflamed منfrom كثرةabundance of المطرِthe rain
إلاّ إذا رمدتْ من كثرة المطرِ
And the meadow's eyes never grow clear
The meadow's sights are never clear
Except when they grow inflamed from abundant rain.
Except when rain makes vision blear
إنّindeed السماءthe sky إذاif لمdid not تبكِweep مقلُتهاits eye
إنّ السماء إذا لم تبكِ مقلُتها
لمdid not تضحكsmile الأرضthe earth عنrevealing شيءanything منof الزهرِthe blossoms
لم تضحك الأرض عن شيء من الزهرِ
Indeed, if the sky's eye does not weep,
For sky that does not weep in woe
The earth does not smile to reveal a single blossom.
Makes earth laugh with no flowers to show
