وفارقت حتى ما أبالي من النوى

I have parted so often that I no longer heed separation,

And I have parted until I no longer care about separation,

I left behind so much that I no longer care for intimates,

even when noble neighbors dear to me depart.

Even if neighbors dear to me depart.

Though my neighbors be gracious and noble.

فقد جعلت نفسي على النأي تنطوي

فقد جعلت نفسي على النأي تنطوي

وعيني على فقد الحبيب تنامُ

وعيني على فقد الحبيب تنامُ

For I have taught my soul to accept the distance,

For my soul has begun to fold inward upon distance,

I've made my soul retreat into solitude,

and my eye to sleep despite the beloved’s loss.

And my eye sleeps despite the loss of the beloved.

My eyes sleep though bereft of their beloved.
