النفس تسخو ولكن يمنع العسر
والحرّand the noble man يَعِذرُexcuses منwhoever بالعسرon account of hardship يعتذرُoffers an excuse
والحرّ يَعِذرُ من بالعسر يعتذرُ
The soul is generous, but hardship holds it back;
The soul is generous, but hardship holds it back.
And the noble soul excuses one who pleads hardship.
And the noble man excuses whoever pleads hardship.
