لعمرك ما سب الأمير عدوه

لعمرك ما سب الأمير عدوه

ولكنما سبَّ الأمير المبلغ

ولكنما سبَّ الأمير المبلغ

By your life, the emir did not revile his enemy;

By your life, it was not his enemy who insulted the emir;

By your life, the prince did not insult his enemy,

rather, it was the tale-bearer who reviled the emir.

rather, it was the one who relayed the insult.

Rather the prince insulted the informant.
