If God sends rain to none but the noble,

Then I pray for rain upon the dwellings of Banu Hanbal:

A persistent, lingering raincloud with a trailing fringe,

True to the promise of its thunderclaps and roar.

As though the cloud, just beneath the sky,

Were ostriches hanging by their legs.

The south wind's churning gusts roll it to and fro,

And the north wind's jolt startles it.

So may it water their dwellings early,

With rain in the drought-stricken season.
