وإنك لا تستطيعُ رد مقالةٍ

And you cannot take back an utterance

That has spread and slipped into another's ears,

كما ليس رامٍ بعد إطلاقِ سهمه

على ردِّه بعد الوقوع بقادر

على ردِّه بعد الوقوع بقادر

Just as no archer, after loosing his arrow,

Can retrieve it after it has landed.
