أغمَّ القفا والوجهِ ليس بأنزعا
Do not marry, if time should part us,
Marry not, though fate our lives may sever
A man hairy of nape and face, whose hair does not recede at the temples.
My saddened heart would give no consent

And remain unmarried, or wed a gallant, noble man,
Imprison me or set me free forever
Who gives freely when the base among men are miserly.
If men grow base, remain magnificent
