مصابيحُ ساعةً ثم تلمح
I lay sleepless at far-spreading lightning, as though it were
lamps for a while, then flickering.
يضيئُit lights up سَناهits radiance ليfor me شروريSharawrā ودونهand before it
يضيئُ سَناه لي شروري ودونه
بقاعُthe plains of النقيعal-Naqīʿ أوor سَناthe radiance of البرقِthe lightning أنزحfarther away
بقاعُ النقيع أو سَنا البرقِ أنزح
Its radiance lights up Sharawrā for me, and before it lie
the plains of al-Naqīʿ—or the lightning’s radiance is farther away.
