فسأستعينُ بهِ على الفولاذِ
So long as my Lord is my helper and my refuge,
As long as my Lord is my supporter and refuge
I shall seek His help against the steel.
I will seek help from Him against steel
وسأستعينُand I shall seek help بهِfrom Him علىagainst أوْهامهمْtheir illusions
وسأستعينُ بهِ على أوْهامهمْ

وجميع ما بذلوهُ لاستحواذِ
And I shall seek His help against their illusions,
And I will seek help from Him against their delusions
And all they have expended to seize control.
And all they have done to dominate

They said, "The wall!" I said, "To us, it is less grievous
They said: the wall, so I said it's easier for us
Than a kinsman's injustice and a neighbor's oppression."
Than the injustice of a close relative and the oppression of an adversary

They said, "Of steel!" I said, "And what
They said: of steel, I said: what does that mean
Does that mean before the valor of the peerless?"
In the face of the heroism of the valiant?

I do not fear their wall, for in my Creator
I do not fear their wall, for with my Creator
Is my refuge from them and from what they have contrived.
I seek refuge from them and what they have resolved

ضربتْ يديَّ بسيفها الحذَّاذ
Arabness is harsher to me than the wall:
More painful to me than the wall is the tyranny
It struck my two hands with its keen-edged sword.
That struck my hands with its sharp sword

It drew on the lip of the wound a question
About our beloved Jerusalem and about Baghdad,
About our precious Jerusalem and Baghdad

About Gaza of heroes—how it became
About the heroism of Gaza, how it turned
A prison besieged by the hearts of my executioners.
Into a prison besieged by brutal hearts

إنقاذَ أعدائي على إنقاذي
Why have some sons of Arabness given precedence
What is wrong with some of the Arab people? They put
To saving my enemies over saving me?
Saving my enemies over saving me

I had known the outcasts among the Jews to be the enemies;
My covenant with the wretched Jews is enmity
Yet behold, they are more hostile than the outcasts.
Yet they are more hostile than the wretched

And does he not fear God, the one who is harsh toward
Or does not fear God whoever is cruel
The frailty of elders and the tenderness of children?
To the weakness of the elderly and the tenderness of infants?

Where is kinship, neighborhood, and who will
Who upholds the one for us and safeguards the other?
Observe this for us and preserve it?

The wall falls before the resolve of Mus'ab,
The wall collapses before the determination of Mus'ab
And before the determination of Mu'awwadh and Mu'adh.
And before the resolve of Mu'adh and Mu'az
