Processions of goodness, one procession after another,

    And a sunrise of truth unsullied by a sunset;

And a spreading tree of love that shaded every traveler

From the sun in the summer heat of blazing sorrow.

Processions that set out from Hira; its domain

Is Meccan at the outset, and Yathribi at the close.

Al-Batha shone when it breathed in

Their fragrance and cast the gaze of one poised to spring.

Processions—the verses of the Book are their guide,

And the Prophet's Sunnah is their companion on their path.

Glad tidings from them coursed through the universe's veins,

And the horizons shook their noblest shoulder for them.

And the efforts of every erring denier failed.

Processions that carried none but people of reason,

Sound in judgment, versed in affairs, and seasoned by experience.

Every mocker of them lagged behind,

And every waverer's striving fell short of them.

For them, in the House's precincts, a prostrating worshipper's prayer,

And a yearning soul's tear, and a voice of welcome.

And in Taybah of the Guide, the Bringer of Glad Tidings, they have a hand

That reaches out with sweet basil to one perfuming himself.

And their towering palms grow in Najd,

And all that is barren in their desert grows fertile.

And breezes from them waft toward the horizons,

Bringing the righteous close and selecting them.

They built their fortresses on enjoining what is right,

Fortresses on whose walls the clouds sit with knees drawn up.

And their summits meet the bright stars in the darkness,

And the full moon casts an admiring glance toward them.

And the sun's eye traces its ray from them,

So all deep darkness flees their light.

It is as though I see glories from their balconies

Peering out, calling us with a call of affection:

Take from my tongue today the wisdom of a sincere adviser

Who has been imbued with nothing but the meanings of truth.

Upon the people a sun whose face was never hidden.

Yes, O call of glory in the ear of the expanse,

You shook the dust of illusion from a weary mind.

The message of all the prophets—so what is it that

Befell the people that they showed an angry face?!

And enjoining what is right is nothing but a religious observance,

Whose aim rises above every other aim.

Distinguishes us amid a Westernized reality.

Ours is the state of monotheism; its standing is exalted

Through its method, not through caprice and sectarianism.

God's Book protected it from corrupt reasoning,

And from atheistic thought and the evil of fanaticism.
