بشُعاعِها يتألَّقُ الوجْدانُ

Love is but a flash within my beating heart;

Love is but a flash in my heart,

In its radiance, the emotions glow.

With its light, passion illuminates.

لولا الوَفاءُ لها لَمَاتَ وَمِيضُه

لولا الوَفاءُ لها لَمَاتَ وَمِيضُه

وَمُمِيتُها في قلبهِ الخُسرانُ

وَمُمِيتُها في قلبهِ الخُسرانُ

Without faithfulness to it, its gleam would die;

Without loyalty to it, its glimmer would die,

And loss is what kills it in his heart.

And its destruction in the heart leads to loss.

هيَ ومْضةٌ تجلو الظلامَ إذا سما

هيَ ومْضةٌ تجلو الظلامَ إذا سما

قصد المُحِبِّ وصانَها الإحسانُ

قصد المُحِبِّ وصانَها الإحسانُ

It is a flash that dispels darkness when noble

It’s a flash that dispels darkness when it rises,

Is the lover's intent, and goodness safeguards it.

Seeking the lover it protects with kindness.

أمَّا إذا ساءتْ مقاصِدُ عاشقٍ

أمَّا إذا ساءتْ مقاصِدُ عاشقٍ

فهيَ اللَّظى في القلب و النيرانُ

فهيَ اللَّظى في القلب و النيرانُ

But when a lover's intentions turn foul,

But if the intentions of a lover go astray,

Then it is blazing fire within the heart, and flames.

It becomes raging flames and fire within the heart.

ما الحُبُّ إلاَّ وَمضة لمَّاحة

ما الحُبُّ إلاَّ وَمضة لمَّاحة

بعطائِنا و وفَائِنا تزدانُ

بعطائِنا و وفَائِنا تزدانُ

Love is but a radiant flash;

Love is but a brilliant flash

By our giving and our faithfulness, it is adorned.

That shines through our giving and loyalty.
