Let me be, for I have saddled poetry for your sake.

And I set it galloping until I crossed the wilderness upon it.

Upon it I reached the east and west of longing.

And I sent it over land and made it ride the sea.

With it I stretched out a rope for every soul distraught with love.

And over love's ocean I fashioned it into a bridge.

With it I lit up feeling in the night of my estrangement.

So I adorned it as a star and illuminated it as a full moon.

And from it I watered the sand in the deserts of my regret.

So it made them bloom with flowers and filled them with fragrance.

I saw poetry's steeds around me, presenting themselves.

So I chose only their thoroughbreds as mounts.

And I followed their path only toward you.

And I took along only contentment with you and glad tidings.

Let me be if you do not grasp the secret of my yearning,

And do not know the meaning of longing or remembrance.

And do not ask about the galloping of my poems' steeds.

For they have become more deserving of taking the lead than the others.

Let me be with poetry's steeds; through their galloping I

Drive my darkness away and draw the dawn nearer.

Let me be, for in my heart is the nectar of love,

Which, if it flowed through a land, would turn it into flowers.
