Forgive me if I have troubled you with my words,

And sent my questions forth without a halter,

And if I have been harsh on your ears with what

I shall pour out of my sorrow and my pains.

Forgive me: I have disturbed your peace with what

I shall tell of the bloodstained tale of wounds.

For I am your son, however far I have strayed through my heedlessness

From you, and however lost I have been in my illusions.

And I am your son, however much I have ridden my desires—

    A fierce-tempered camel without a bridle.

And I am your son, even if you have torn my page

From the ledger of kindness and honor.

A burden on the networks and films.

And the marketplace complains of the pounding of feet.

Suffer over the years I have squandered.

They said, 'Unemployment.' I said, 'That is my companion.'

What a wretched companion—she has squandered my dreams.

She assailed me in my youth, and twisted

The rope of defeatism with the firmest twist.

Until I held my diploma, with distinction,

And set out with it like a bold knight.

And went from door to door,

Seeing rejection that deepened my suffering and sickness.

My spear, which I readied, and my keen sword.

How often my dear father shook my hand

To strengthen my resolve and my courage.

'Rejoice, my dear son, for I have heard good news

Brought to us through the media:

The door to employment opportunities is being opened

For our youth, fully and completely.'

And how often he grieved when he realized that what

They had said was an illusion, like a thirsty mirage.

Through the media, though it is mere talk.

And in my palms is zero, without digits.
