The noblest edifice is the building of a free soul,

whose innermost being is free from ailments.

And more precious than a million soaring towers

are the towers of a scholar's and an imam's resolve.

And thus the unyielding soul is built

    through knowledge, faith, and honor.

Indeed, I hear every proud handspan

of our land, whose banners are raised,

offer a thousand greetings and one more,

and speak to me with a valiant youth's words:

The sun has phases: a radiant morning,

and noon, and its far-spreading sunset.

    يرْتدُّ عنها جيشُ كلَّ ظلامِ

    And the sun of truth remains aglow;

the army of all darkness recoils from it.

Many a speaker is sharp of tongue, while his heart

seethes with burning embers of rancor.

Say what you will about life and its loveliness,

    and the beauty of the dreams within it;

for enjoining what is right is the finest gift

for our homes, protecting them from sins.

Have you seen someone of sound mind refuse a gift

    of mercy, affection, and peace?
