محمد خير بني آدمٍ
بلrather خيرةchosen one الرحمنthe All-Merciful منamong خلقِهِHis creation
بل خيرة الرحمن من خلقِهِ
Muhammad is the best of Adam's children,
Muhammad is the best of Adam's children
Nay, the All-Merciful's chosen one among His creation.
Rather, he is the elite of the Most Merciful among His creations
حبيبbeloved ربّLord العرشthe Throne أيany امرئٍperson
حبيب ربّ العرش أي امرئٍ
لهto him التجاsought refuge يسلمis safe منfrom محقهhis destruction
له التجا يسلم من محقه
Beloved of the Lord of the Throne—whoever
The beloved of the Lord of the Throne, which man
Seeks refuge with him is safe from his own destruction.
Surrenders to him and is safe from destruction
محمدMuhammad الهاديthe guide الذيwho باسمهin his name
محمد الهادي الذي باسمه
تيبَrepentance was accepted علىfor آدمAdam منfrom فوقهabove him
تيبَ على آدم من فوقه
Muhammad, the guide, in whose name
Muhammad the guide, who in his name
Adam was granted forgiveness from on high.
Adam was dressed from above
دعاhe called ولمand did not تبصرهsee him أعيانناour eyes
دعا ولم تبصره أعياننا
ولمand did not نكنwe were نسمعwe hear منfrom نطقهhis speech
ولم نكن نسمع من نطقه
He called, though our eyes had not seen him,
He called and our eyes did not see him
Nor had we heard his speech.
And we were not hearing his speech
دعاhe called إلىto الحقthe truth فياso, O بشرناour joy
دعا إلى الحق فيا بشرنا
حيثsince أجبناهwe answered him إلىto حقّهhis truth
حيث أجبناه إلى حقّه
He called to the truth—oh, what joy for us,
He called to the truth, so good news
Since we answered his call to his truth.
When we answered him to his right
مَنwho مثلناlike us فيat الحشرthe Gathering والمصطفىand the Chosen One
مَن مثلنا في الحشر والمصطفى
فيناamong us وكلand all الناسpeople فيin ريقهhis saliva
فينا وكل الناس في ريقه
Who is like us at the Gathering, when the Chosen One
Who is like us on the Day of Resurrection and Al-Mustafa (Muhammad)
Is among us, while everyone is immersed in his own saliva?
Among us and all people are in his mercy
مشَفَّعُone whose intercession is accepted فيناfor us وكلand all الورىcreation
مشَفَّعُ فينا وكل الورى
فيat فصلهاits judgment تصغيlistens attentively إلىto نطقهhis speech
في فصلها تصغي إلى نطقه
His intercession for us is accepted, and all creation
The intercessor for us and all creatures
At its judgment listens attentively to his speech.
In separating them, they listen to his speech
منwhoever دانprofessed faith فيin الدنياthis world محباًloving لهfor him
من دان في الدنيا محباً له
فإنماso indeed الجنةParadise منamong حقهhis rightful dues
فإنما الجنة من حقه
Whoever professed faith in this world, loving him,
Whoever believes in the world as his lover
Surely has Paradise as his rightful due.
Then Paradise is his right
حناhe showed compassion علىtoward أمنهhis safety مرفقاًgently
حنا على أمنه مرفقاً
بلrather كلall ذاthis العالمworld منfrom رفقهhis kindness
بل كل ذا العالم من رفقه
He tenderly cared for his safety,
We are gentle with his security
Nay, this whole world is due to his kindness.
Rather, the whole world is within his mercy
Sol 6.1
