ما أَقدَرَ اللَهَ أَن يُدني عَلى شَحَطٍ

ما أَقدَرَ اللَهَ أَن يُدني عَلى شَحَطٍ

مَن دارُهُ الحَزنُ مِمَّن دارُهُ صولُ

مَن دارُهُ الحَزنُ مِمَّن دارُهُ صولُ

How able God is to bring near, despite great distance,

How can God join together

one whose home is al-Hazn to one whose home is Sul!

One whose abode is sorrow and one whose abode luxury?

اللَه يَطوي بِساطَ الأَرضِ بِينَهُما

اللَه يَطوي بِساطَ الأَرضِ بِينَهُما

حَتّى يَرى الرَبعَ مِنهُ وَهوَ مَأهولُ

حَتّى يَرى الرَبعَ مِنهُ وَهوَ مَأهولُ

God folds up the earth’s carpet between them,

God can fold up the carpet of the earth between them

until he sees the dwelling from there, inhabited.

Until the one can see a quarter of it, though it be populous
