يا سيداً أرجو وأمدح فضله
وعلاهand his eminence ماas long as امتدّتreached out إلىtoward قلمa pen يديmy hand
وعلاه ما امتدّت إلى قلم يدي
O master, whose bounty I hope for and praise,
O master, I plead and praise his merit
and whose eminence I praise as long as my hand reaches for a pen.
And his highness as far as my pen reaches
أملتI placed my hopes in جاهكyour influence فيamong الأنامmankind لحاجةfor a need
أملت جاهك في الأنام لحاجة
عرضتarose وماand not للعبدfor the servant غيرother than السيدthe master
عرضت وما للعبد غير السيد
I placed my hopes in your influence among mankind for a need
I pin my hopes on your status among people, for a need
that arose; the servant has no one but his master.
