يد المعروف غنمٌ حيث كانت

تحمَّلها شكورٌ أو كفـور

A hand of kindness is a gain wherever it may be,

Whether received by someone grateful or ungrateful.

Borne by one grateful or one unthankful

ففي شكر الشَّكور لها جزاءٌ

وعند الله ما كفر الكفـور

For in the grateful one's thanks lies its recompense,

In the gratitude of the grateful is its reward

And with God lies the reward for what the ungrateful one denies.
