عَشِيَّةَ يَحيى موثَقٌ في السَلاسِلِ
Is not what you do under God's eye,
Is not what you are doing in the sight of God?
on the evening when Yahya is bound in chains?
In the evening, John bound in chains

Have you not seen Layth—and what she has decreed?
Have you not seen a lioness - what has she been fated with?
Woe to her in her waning power!
Woe to her in her declining sultanate

Layth has indeed bared her arse to the people,
A lion has finally revealed to the people her condition
at last, and become a laughingstock among the tribes.
And she has become a laughing stock among the tribes

Dogs howled—may God not bless their cause—
Dogs have rebelled, God has not sanctified their matter
so they came with prey no eater may lawfully eat.
So they have come up with prey that is not lawful to eat
