شِبتُI have grown gray وَالشَيبُand gray hair واعِظٌan admonisher مَنwhoever عَصاهُdisobeyed it
شِبتُ وَالشَيبُ واعِظٌ مَن عَصاهُ
لَمdid not يُطِعheed بَعدُthereafter ناصِحاًan adviser زَجَرَهrebuked him
لَم يُطِع بَعدُ ناصِحاً زَجَرَه
I have grown gray, and gray hair is an admonisher; whoever disobeys it
My hair turned grey, and greyness preaches to him who disobeys it,
will heed no adviser thereafter who rebukes him.
He who does not heed it will not afterwards obey any admonisher chiding him.
