أُبلُ الرِجالَ إِذا أَرَدتَ إِخاءَهُم

أُبلُ الرِجالَ إِذا أَرَدتَ إِخاءَهُم

وَتَوَسَّمَنَّ أُمورَهُم وَتَفَقَّدِ

وَتَوَسَّمَنَّ أُمورَهُم وَتَفَقَّدِ

Test men when you desire their brotherhood.

And be sure to discern their affairs and examine them.

فَإِذا رَأَيتَ أَخا العَفافَةِ وَالنُهى

فَإِذا رَأَيتَ أَخا العَفافَةِ وَالنُهى

فَبِهِ اليَدَينِ قَريرَ عَينٍ فَاِشدُدِ

فَبِهِ اليَدَينِ قَريرَ عَينٍ فَاِشدُدِ

So when you see a man of chastity and sound judgment,

Then hold fast to him with both hands, your eye at peace.
