    We have left the world, though we are among its people.

    So we are neither among its dead nor its living.

    When the jailer enters one day on some errand,

    We marvel and say, 'This man has come from the world.'

    And we rejoice in dreams, for most of our talk,

    When we wake in the morning, is talk of dreams.

    وَإِن قَبُحَت لَم تَنتَظِر وَأَتَت سَعيا

    So if a dream is good, it is slow to come true;

    And if it is bad, it does not wait, but comes running.
