May God, Lord of mankind, never cast away
God, Lord of all people
—and of salt—those whom Khalidah bore.
Does not keep distant salt's kindred.
وَهُمand they يُطعِمونَfeed صُدورَthe breasts of الكُماةِthe armored warriors
وَالخَيلُand the horses تَطرُدُdrive back أَوor طارِدَهpursuing
And they feed the breasts of armored warriors,
They feed crows' maws
While the horses drive back or give chase.
As horses bolt or give chase.
فَإِنso if يَكُنِshould have المَوتُdeath أَفناهُمُdestroyed them
فَلِلمَوتِthen for death ماwhatever تَلِدُshe bears الوالِدَهthe mother
So if death should have destroyed them,
If death be their end,
Then whatever a mother bears belongs to death.
Then death claims what birth once did.
