What men lie at Badr, and what men around it—

    Young men, fair-faced and noble!

They left Nubayh behind them, and Munabbih,

And Rabiʿah’s two sons, the finest foes of multitudes,

And al-Harith the Bountiful, his face gleaming

    Like the full moon that lit up the night of darkness;

And al-ʿAsi son of Munabbih, a man of strength,

A perfect spear, free of blemishes.

He is exalted by his ancestral roots and forefathers,

And by the glorious deeds of his maternal and paternal uncles.

And when a mourner weeps and wails his grief,

Then let it be for the illustrious chief, Ibn Hisham.

May God greet Abu al-Walid and his clan—

The Lord of all creatures—and favor them with peace.
