    ما بين آلامي و سهدي

    Alone here, O night, alone,

Between my pains and my sleeplessness.

    و الذكريات السود عندي

    Alone, with dead hopes,

    And black memories with me.

As though the phantoms of darkness

Around me were a tyrant’s wishes.

—ter them, conceal them, and reveal them.

[Unclear word] toys with me, as

As though I, in his palm,

    Were a noble man’s honor in a scoundrel’s palm.

    إلى العلا بأحرّ وجد

O night, I have a heart that yearns

For the heights with the most ardent longing.

—es, and eternity recounts my immortality.

    تهدي إلى العليا و تهدي

    A hymn from me—a nation

That guides to the heights and gives.

True to the covenant of the heights,

So let the heights remember my covenant.
