أعاذِلَO reproacher غُضّيhold back بَعضَsome of لَومكِyour blame أَنَّنيfor I
أَرىI see المَوتَdeath لاnot يَرضىaccepts بِدَينٍwith a debt وَلاnor رَهنِa pledge
O reproacher, hold back some of your blame, for I
see that death accepts neither a debt nor a pledge;
وأَنّيand that I أَرىI see دَهراًan age تَغيَّرَhas changed صَرفُهُits course
وَدُنياand a world أَراهاI see it لاnot تَقومُstands عَلىon وَزنِa balance
and I see an age whose course has changed,
and a world that, I see, has no balance.
