1. كَفْكِفا دَمْعي وقُولا لي كَفى

    سامَحَ اللهُ فُؤادي وعَفا

    Wipe away my tears, you two, and tell me, 'Enough.'

    May God forgive my heart and pardon it.

  2. ما على دَمعي وأحزاني إذا

    قَتَلَ الغَدرُ غَرامي وجفا

    What blame rests on my tears and sorrows, when

    Treachery killed my passion and was cruel?

  3. وذرُوا قلبي وذِكرى غَيِّهِ

    فعسى يَلْقَى مِنَ الحُبِّ شِفا

    And leave my heart and the memory of its waywardness,

    For perhaps it may find healing from love.

  4. آهِ، قَلبي اليومَ يُخْفِي دَمعةً

    هل رأيْتُمْ دَمعاتٍ في الخَفا

    Ah, today my heart conceals a tear.

    Have you seen tears in secret?

  5. أم يَبُوحُ القَلْبُ ما خَبَّأْتُهُ

    مِنْ لَهيبٍ كانَ فيه وانْطَفَى

    Or does the heart reveal what I concealed

    Of a blaze that was within it and died out?

  6. حائرًا كيفَ انْطَفَتْ أشجانُهُ

    وهوى الصَّرْحُ، وأَفْنَى الشَّغَفا

    Bewildered at how its sorrows died out,

    And the edifice fell, and passion was destroyed.

  7. غادِرٌ في طَعْنَةٍ مَسمومةٍ

    قتلَ الحُبَّ، وأنساهُ الوَفا

    A traitor, with a poisoned stab,

    Killed love and made it forget fidelity.
