تَقْذِفُhurl النَّارَthe fire وتَغتالُand slay المُهَجْthe souls
I, O night—my feelings are a blaze;
O night, my feelings rage
They hurl fire and slay souls.
Casting fire and ambushing the fervent.

I find no solace, nor, beside me, does
I do not question, nor do they question me,
the age of oppression that clamored with injustice.
The era of oppression which injustice perturbed.

The child grows up orphaned and destitute;
The child grows orphaned, deprived.
War has made his legs lame.
War has made his legs limp.

He seeks death so he may meet his mother.
He seeks death to meet his mother.
We ask God for joy and relief?
We ask God for joy and relief.
