سافِرْ مَتى شِئتَ إلى أَضْلُعي

سافِرْ مَتى شِئتَ إلى أَضْلُعي

بين دمي والرُّوحِ طابَ السَّفَرْ

بين دمي والرُّوحِ طابَ السَّفَرْ

Journey whenever you wish into my ribs;

Travel to my ribs whenever you wish.

Between my blood and soul, how sweet the journey is.

Between my blood and soul, the journey is sweet.

أَبْحِرْ إلى قلبي، وشَطِّ الهوى

أَبْحِرْ إلى قلبي، وشَطِّ الهوى

لا تبتعدْ، فالبُعْدُ عنّي خَطَرْ

لا تبتعدْ، فالبُعْدُ عنّي خَطَرْ

Sail to my heart and to passion’s shore;

Sail to my heart and the shore of love.

Do not go far—for distance from me is dangerous.

Do not go far away, for distance from me is peril.

وانْزِلْ على صَدري ودِفءِ الحَشا

وانْزِلْ على صَدري ودِفءِ الحَشا

لِيَسْكُنَ اللَّيلُ، ويَزهو السَّمَرْ

لِيَسْكُنَ اللَّيلُ، ويَزهو السَّمَرْ

And alight upon my breast and the warmth within,

And rest upon my breast and in the warmth of my inner being,

So night may settle and evening conversation bloom.

So that the night may grow still and nightly conversation bloom.

يا مَنْ وَهَبْتَ الشّمسَ إشراقَها

يا مَنْ وَهَبْتَ الشّمسَ إشراقَها

وأنتَ أَزهى مِن جَبينِ القَمَرْ

وأنتَ أَزهى مِن جَبينِ القَمَرْ

O you to whom the sun has given its radiance,

O you who gave the sun its radiance,

You are yet more radiant than the moon’s brow.

And you are more radiant than the moon's brow.

اعطِفْ على مُضْناكَ يا سَيّدي

اعطِفْ على مُضْناكَ يا سَيّدي

فصُورةُ الأحبابِ أَحلى الصُّوَرْ

فصُورةُ الأحبابِ أَحلى الصُّوَرْ

Take pity on the one who pines for you, my lord;

Have compassion on your lovesick one, O my lord,

For the image of loved ones is the loveliest of images.
