وأعرَضتَ أفدِيكَ مِن مُعرِضِ
You turned away, and were lovely in your turning away.
You turned away, yet you looked graceful when turning,
And you averted yourself—I'd ransom you, you who turn away.
I sacrifice myself for you against all rejecters,

يَبينُ المحبُّ من المُبغِضِ
And in a state of anger, not of contentment,
It's in anger, not in joy, that the lover
The lover is distinguished from the hater.
Is distinguished from the hater,

And whoever is kind in his anger—
And he who does good even when angry,
Then what will he be like when he is pleased?
How would he be if he became pleased?
