يُعجبُكَ البَحرُ وأمواجُهُ

يُعجبُكَ البَحرُ وأمواجُهُ

واللَّيلُ والخلوةُ في اللَّيلِ

واللَّيلُ والخلوةُ في اللَّيلِ

The sea and its waves delight you,

The sea and its waves delight you

And the night, and solitude in the night.

And the night and seclusion at night

وَالبحرُ من جُودِكَ تَيّارُه

وَالبحرُ من جُودِكَ تَيّارُه

واللَّيلُ من نَقعِكَ في الخَيلِ

واللَّيلُ من نَقعِكَ في الخَيلِ

And the sea’s current comes from your generosity,

The sea from your generosity its current

And night comes from the dust you raise amid the cavalry.

And the night from your brooding in imagination

فعِش أبا الجَيش لِهذا وَذا

فعِش أبا الجَيش لِهذا وَذا

عالي المَعالي ساحِب الذَّيلِ

عالي المَعالي ساحِب الذَّيلِ

So live, Abu al-Jaysh, for this and that,

So live, O father of the army, for this and that

Lofty in honors, trailing your robe’s hem.

Exalted in sublimity, dragging the train
