O one in whose charms my eye delights,
O you whose perfection mine eyes took delight in,
when he made it laugh with beauty, he made it weep.
When you made them laugh with beauty you made them weep,

You fed it in sleep, then departed, taking sleep with you.
You fed them tidbits then you went away taking them with you—
How little need it had of this and that in love!
None is, for this or that, sufficient in love to console them.

You are the physician for an ailment that has so often brought together
You are the doctor of an illness for which
doctors all at once, yet has baffled them.
Physicians had long gathered in a time and failed to cure.
