ياO عدلُʿAdl (name) تصلحُyou are fit to be عدلاًa counterweight
يا عدلُ تصلحُ عدلاً
علىupon وجوهِthe faces of النساءِthe women
على وجوهِ النساءِ
O ʿAdl, you would make a counterweight
O Justice, you correct justice
upon the faces of women,
On the faces of women
منزهاًuntainted عنby لواطٍsodomy
منزهاً عن لواطٍ
تُرمىyou are accused بهof it أوor زناءِfornication
تُرمى به أو زناءِ
untainted by sodomy
Free from homosexuality
imputed to you, or by fornication.
With which she is charged or adultery
وغيرُand other than ذينِthese two بلاءٌaffliction
وغيرُ ذينِ بلاءٌ
واللَهُand God ربّLord of البلاءِaffliction
واللَهُ ربّ البلاءِ
And anything other than these two is affliction,
And others without affliction are a calamity
and God is Lord of affliction.
And Allah is the Lord of calamity
تُبلىyou are afflicted وتُعفىand you are spared علىin (with the following word: in spite of)
تُبلى وتُعفى على
رغمspite of آنفِthe nose of الأعداءِthe enemies
رغم آنفِ الأعداءِ
You are afflicted and spared, in
You wear out and are pardoned over
spite of the enemies' noses.

لاno عيبَfault فيكَin you سوىexcept قَوsay- (word fragment)
لا عيبَ فيكَ سوى قَو
لِهم-ing of theirs (continuation) قليلُlittle الحياءِsense of shame
لِهم قليلُ الحياءِ
You have no fault except the say-
No fault in you but the words
-ing of theirs: "He has little shame."
Of those with little modesty
فثمَّso there is عذرٌan excuse أقمناwe have offered
فثمَّ عذرٌ أقمنا
هُit (object suffix) معشرَcompany of الأصدقاءِthe friends
هُ معشرَ الأصدقاءِ
So there is an excuse; we have offered
So there is an excuse we have established
it, we band of friends:
We the company of friends
تلقىyou meet الرجالَthe men بوجهٍwith a face
تلقى الرجالَ بوجهٍ
منfrom أهلthe people of بيتِthe house of اللقاءِencounter
من أهل بيتِ اللقاءِ
You meet men with a face
You meet men with a face
from the household of encounter.
