If people boast on the day of giving

of their oozing and their dripping,

there flowed what would sweep them away if they stood in its path,

so Ja'far's bounty was a river.

May past and future gladden you,

and the present that comes between them.

So with good fortune you fasted, and in it you com—

—plete your fast as before, and with it you break your fast.

As though you were generosity's ear, if it lis—

—tens intently, and its eye whenever it looks.
